About us

Not So Epic Adventures
My passion for the outdoors started when I was a kid — and honestly, it hasn’t slowed down one bit. I’m still out there flipping rocks for bugs, exploring deep backcountry, and sleeping under the stars every chance I get. Canoeing remote lakes, grinding through tough portages, chasing brook trout, and being fully immersed in nature — that’s what I live for.
Whether it’s a quiet morning casting for trout in Algonquin or pushing through a rugged portage in Temagami, I hope Not So Epic Adventures inspires you to get outside, build confidence, and experience wild spaces for yourself.

Meet Curtis Lafleche
Curtis Lafleche is a lifelong outdoorsman with a passion for practical wilderness skills, self-reliant travel, and helping others feel more confident outside. What began as a young love of hiking, fishing, and exploring has grown into decades of hands-on experience in backcountry camping, canoe tripping, dog sledding, hunting, bushcraft, and wilderness travel across Canada — from the mountains of northern interior British Columbia to the rugged coast of Newfoundland.
With more than 20 years of experience in the forest sector, Curtis built a strong foundation in navigation, terrain assessment, risk management, and working safely in remote environments. Those years in demanding country shaped the way he approaches trip planning, camp systems, efficiency, and backcountry decision-making.
Now based in North Bay, Ontario, Curtis regularly explores the North Bay area and the Temagami region. A recent 16-day solo canoe journey through Temagami — including fly fishing along the Lady Evelyn River — reflects both his deep backcountry experience and his continued passion for wilderness adventure.
Through photography, video storytelling, guided experiences, and hands-on teaching, Curtis shares field-tested skills that encourage confidence, self-reliance, respect for the land, and a deeper connection to the outdoors.
